D&AD award winning commercial (Best 60′ commercial and Best TV campaign 1986), the campaign relaunched Brylcreem after years of decline. It was designed to attract young people without alienating the small number of loyal users who relied on the brand.
All the ads in the campaign were made entirely out of existing footage – a first at the time and very difficult to do before digital – individual frames were cut together by hand over a hot summer!
Music for ‘Girl in Tube’ was the slow version of “Moments in love” by Anne Dudley. Trevor Horn kindly allowed us to use it for the small budget we had because he liked it : )
The creative team were Jan Heron and Su Sareen. Nick Thompson was the film editor.
